How we check pool hours

Pool hours change with the seasons. We check every pool with its official source, and show the date and source of the last check on every pool.

Where our information comes from

  1. The pool's official website: the city, county, school district or YMCA that runs it. This always wins.
  2. Google Maps for the address and basic hours. Until we confirm them, the pool is marked "Not checked yet".
  3. Corrections from swimmers and pool staff, checked against the official source before we change anything.

What the labels mean

Hours checked
The official source lists hours; we show whether it's open today.
Call before you go
Open to the public, but no hours online.
Closed for the season
Closed until a date or season the pool names, or for construction.
Not checked yet
Hours from Google Maps, not yet confirmed.

What we check, and how often

Open or closed, hours for each day, lap swim times, prices and passes, free swim times, pool length and depth, diving boards and pool rules.

Every week, and every day around the start (May) and end (August–September) of the outdoor season.

Our rules

  • We never guess. If a pool doesn't publish something, we leave it out.
  • Every pool shows when we last checked it and where.
  • We respect websites that don't want automated visits. We check those by hand or ask the pool.

How we make money

Some pages may show hotel day passes. If you book one through our link, we may earn a commission. That never changes which public pools we list or how we sort them.
