Pool rules

• Swimming permitted only when a certified staff lifeguard is on duty and in position.
• Soap showers must be taken before using the Mangione Aquatic Center.
• No diving into lanes. Diving is only permitted in the diving well lanes or off the diving boards.
• No running or rough play in the Mangione Aquatic Center.
• No swimming under the bulkhead.
• Children under 16 years of age must be supervised by an adult member (18 years of age or older) at all times regardless of swimming ability.
• All children must perform a swim test, swimming successfully for 25 yards without assistance or stopping, to enter the diving well.
• Children who cannot swim 25 yards without assistance or stopping can swim in the shallow lane within arm's reach of an adult; the adult must be in the water.
• Children requiring the use of diapers during the normal daily activities must wear approved swim diapers while using the pool.
• Lifejackets are approved for use in the shallow lane and lane 9 only; lifejackets are not approved for use in the diving well.
• Children ages 5 and under are not permitted in the hot tub or sauna; children ages 5-15 must be directly accompanied by an adult member (18 years of age or older) at all times.
• Use of diving boards by more than one individual at a time is prohibited.
• Only forward dives and jumps from the front end of the diving boards is permitted; sailor, sit-down and handstand dives are prohibited.
• Running on the boards is prohibited.

Good to know

• The pool is in the Mangione Aquatic Center inside the Fitness & Aquatic Center (FAC); the FAC building hours are longer than the pool hours and must not be used as pool hours.
• The Aquatic Center is shared with athletic team practices, user groups, and competitions; all or part of the pool may be closed periodically for special events/programming. Access to the shallow end and the adjoining lane will be open during varsity swim practice.
• Reserved pool times and lane availability are published in the Aquatic Calendar (https://recreation.loyola.edu/Facility/GetSchedule); navigate the drop down menu to Fitness and Aquatic Center > Pool.
• The holiday schedule table lists dates without years; the dates shown here are the next occurrence after the verification date (2026-10-07) and should be confirmed.
• The holiday table contains an apparent typo: Exam Schedule (May 1) facility hours are listed as '9:00am - 7:00am'.
• The policies page gives conflicting age limits for the hot tub/sauna: the general Youth and Children section says children ages 10 and under are not permitted, while the Hot Tub and Sauna sections say children ages 5 and under are not permitted.
• The policies page gives conflicting locker room age limits: 'Children over the age of 5 years old may not use the opposite gender's locker room' (Youth and Children) versus 'Children over the age of 3 years old may not use the opposite gender's locker room' (Locker Rooms).

Kiddie Pool

Children's wading pool within the Patterson Park Pool complex; a new wading pool was planned as Phase II of the Patterson Park Pool renovation.

Good to know

• Status is uncertain: a new wading pool and upgraded pool house were slated for 2025 (Phase II, $2.5M) but completion was not confirmed.
• Historically open 11am–7pm with a one-hour afternoon cleaning break (2024).
• Patterson Park Pool (built 1953) reopened May 2024 after Phase I renovation; it closed briefly after vandalism on June 6 and July 25, 2026.
• The generic name 'Kiddie Pool' comes from a Patterson Park (Lakewood entrance) map; the map PDF now returns 404.
